Summer season is here. With the mercury level rising, it is not easy to look fresh. This season can be synonymous with wrinkled clothes and bad make-up. So here are some tips to look your best this season.

Dr Jaishree Sharad, a leading dermatologist from sector 10, Vashi, informs, “There is a lot of exposure to the sun this season.

So avoid applying foundation. Instead, switch to an oil-free formulation to prevent acne and boils. Use loose powder as pressed powder has the tendency to cake and clump, when it comes in contact with moisture. Use a sunscreen with spf 30 about 20 minutes before exposure to sun. Reapply sunscreen after every three hours.”

Dr Sharad, who is also the secretary of Cosmetic Dermatology Society of India, adds, “Skip applying moisturiser in the day. Use blush sparingly. Blot any perspiration or oil build-up with non-powdered blotting papers or use a clean tissue to wipe off the sweat.

Use a moisturising shampoo and a conditioner a few times a week to combat any dryness caused due to daily exposure. Remember that colour-treated hair will fade faster when exposed to the direct rays of the sun. Hats or the head wraps are a must. Avoid blow-drying and the use of hot rollers and curling irons whenever possible.”

Dr Pooja Dalal, an ayurveda specialist at the popular Ayush therapy center, sector 12, Vashi, says, “In Ayurveda, we recommend coconut milk. It is a natural and healthy way to rejuvenate the skin. Applying coconut milk on your face for about 10 minutes can make your skin ready for make-up. There is also a summer treatment camp, where we provide tips on how to maintain your skin.”

The senior and well-experienced Dr Sharad said, “Use water-proof mascara, choose eye pencils over liquid liners, and switch to eye shadows. Skip eyeliner and mascara on the lower lashes. Before applying eye makeup, use loose powder. This will help absorb any moisture and will not affect the make up,” she says.
