Bobade was caught red handed on December 29 by ACB officials. ACB’s police inspector Pratibha Munde said, “We caught the sub inspector red handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant.”
The complainant, Ramesh Kumar Rathod (52) who owns ‘Rathod Grihavasthu Bhandar’ at Building No 92, Shop No 6 in Mankhurd said, “On November 23, Deonar police arrested me for illegally selling Bharat Gas, as I only had the license for Century Gas.
During the time of arrest, Deonar police and officials from Rationing Department in Churchgate demanded one lakh rupees from me not to file an FIR. I was not in a position to pay such a large sum.”
Rathod further said that after lodging an FIR, police confiscated his mini tempo filled with gas cylinders and kept him in police custody for 10 days. “Had they wanted, I could have been released in a day on bail. The day I came out from police custody, I took a court order, informed the rationing department and went to Deonar police station to get back my mini tempo.”
“My agony continued even then due to corrupt police officials. Even after receiving the court order, they demanded Rs 15,000 to release my tempo. I somehow managed to settle the amount for Rs 5,000 and informed the matter to the ACB. The ACB officials laid a trap at Deonar police station and arrested the sub inspector while accepting Rs 5000 from me,” informed Rathod.
