On March 23, Ranjankumar R Amin, a resident of Saraswati CHS, Ghatla and honorary general secretary of Chembur Karnataka Sangha was assaulted with a metal chain allegedly by Nilesh Tathare, an ex-employee of Chembur Karnataka High School.

Ranjankumar said, “While walking on NG Acharya Marg at 9 pm, Nilesh who was standing nearby, suddenly attacked me with a metal chain due to which I fell down.

Then he started kicking me and threatened me saying that he would teach me a lesson and kill me. Due to the assault, I received bruises all over the body.  Bystanders came to my rescue and with their help I lodged a complaint at Chembur police station. The police directed me to Shatabdi hospital where an X-ray of my injured finger was taken.”

When contacted, Balasaheb Pachundkar, senior police inspector of Chembur police station said, “A complaint has been lodged against Tathare. We will initiate proper action against him if he is found guilty. Owing to the forthcoming general elections, we are pre-occupied with its preparations in regard to security arrangements.”
