Staff and students of Vivekanand Education Society’s (VES) Tulsi Technical Institute celebrated the 88th birth anniversary of Jhamatmal Wadhwani on March 9.
Mohan Motwani, managing trustee of VES inaugurated a computer lab and a one-day free medical and dental check-up camp was also organised for the students on the occasion.
Jhamatmal was the founder President of VES since its inception upto his demise in April 2007. The chief guest Motwani praised the efforts of the teachers for acting as supportive pillars in developing the skill and personality of the students.
Talking about the institute the Principal, VS Prasad informed, “We offer short term courses for the under-SSC students. For students who have passed their SSC we offer a one-year computer hardware diploma course from Maharashtra Tilak Institute, Pune.”
Twenty years back VES had a vision of embarking on a new venture into imparting job oriented courses. When the government of Maharashtra introduced the Central Government sponsored MCVC (Minimum Competency Vocational Courses) the VES management grabbed the offer. “Initially, we began with three courses but now we have 13 courses and subjects are grouped as technical, commerce, paramedical and hospitality,” said Prasad. He added that these courses are considered equivalent to HSC exams and students can pursue their graduation after completion of MCVC or take up a job. Tulsi Technical Institute was awarded ‘Best Vocational Institute’ in 2000 by NCERT. In 2007, the BMC presented ‘Clean and Green Award’ to this institute.
